Isaiah And "That Day"

There are many who believe that God is through with Israel and the “Church” has been substituted in It’s place. They believe that Israel became so corrupt that God could never restore them as his people. They use the word “church” as meaning the universal church. The autonomy of the local church is usually ignored or denied. If this is true The LORD lied to Abraham.
Replacement theology believers will usually deny the literal rapture of believers, seven year tribulation, thousand year millennial kingdom and the new heaven and earth.
If this theology is true than God lied to Abraham, a man He loved.

When “that day” is seen as prophetic it point to a time after the rapture of the church when God will restore His people. That Day is seen 45 times in Isaiah

Isaiah 2:11 The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.

Remember What Isaiah in Chapter 6 - Isaiah saw his righteousness compared to the righteous of The LORD and he was brought down.
Now we can better understand why he called our (and his) righteousness filthy rags. Before the idea of germs causing plagues the infected bandages and other clothing were just tossed in trash heap and the infestation would just spread. It was found that when these infested bandaged were collected and burned the plague would begin to die out. It is common practice for them still to be incinerated today.
Remember certain offerings were burned upon the alter - Christ took the sins of the world to the cross paying the penalty for all the sins of the world. But remember just because Christ has paid the penalty for our sins we must still deal with our sins by first accepting Him as savior and than confessing and seeking forgiveness of the sins we commit after we are saved or they will grow and fester; we will not loose our salvation but our fellowship with Christ and one another will be damaged.
Judah and Jerusalem had exalted themselves above the need to obey God and deal with their sins and turned from Him.
But because God loved Abraham and promised him a great nation He will humble Israel (and all men) and exalt Himself in their eyes.
There is going to be a day when all men will stand before God in judgment and He (The LORD) alone will be exalted and they will be brought down.

God said that Judah and Jerusalem will not turn back and repent even when taken into captivity. We saw that The Lord knew more He chastened His people the more hard-hearted they would become (Isaiah 1:5) and it was for a remnant all of Judah and Jerusalem would have been destroyed..

Israel will be restored: Isaiah 30:23-24 -
What will bring about their restoration - Isaiah 30:22 - throw out that which they have previously worshiped
Why will Israel do this - Isaiah 30:18-21 - The Lord will provide for them in their time of trouble

How will this restoration begin
Time of tribulation upon this world - Isaiah 17:1-8, 11-14, Isa 5:30
Verse 17:5 note - grain is beaten on the harvest floor or twisted and ground between the hands (Jeremiah 51:33)
Verse 17:9 - Why shall there be desolation (tribulation) - Because of Israel
Is this because of the way the nations have treated Israel? See verse 10
Verse 17:10- because Israel has forsaken Their God - they have angered the Holy one of Israel - God wanted obedience Israel refused.
There is a remnant Isaiah 10-20; Isaiah 11:10 -12
This remnant will know Him - Isaiah 12, 25:9

Isaiah should be studied with “That Day “ always noticed.

Two key phrases
The Holy One of Israel & That Day a really key verse would be one with both phrases in it

Isaiah 10:20 ¶ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.
21 The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.
