Chapters 10
Still dealing with Israel being taken by Assyria
10:1-2
Woe unto - judgment is assuredly coming upon
Unrighteous kings - decree makers & Lawmakers, writers - bring a burden upon those the LORD often orders special care to be given
See 9:16 - These unrighteous rulers led the entire nation into sin. - the blind leading the blind - the shepherd leading the sheep to bad water, bad pasture, to slaughter

10:3 - Day of visitation - Israel what will you do, who will be there for you when Assyria comes
Another day of visitation - 1Peter 2:12 when the presence of the Lord - Who will they flee than -
10:4 - without The Lord with them they shall be broken by Assyria
Without the promise of the Lord to Abraham - Israel would not stand whin the Lord returns to set up
His kingdom
See the past becoming their present, becoming their future

10:5- Assyria is going to be the rod & staff of the chastening used by The Lord when they come upon Israel and Syria
The rod used to defend the flock - The Staff (crook) to pull the sheep out of trouble (Psalm 23) as a confort for David in times of trouble
But here the rod will be used to inflict judgment upon the sheep of His field - the staff to pull Israel into captivity. The same tools of the Lord that are comfort to those who walking is obedience are a sign of vexation to those who reject His offer of comfort and protection.

10:6-19 - The consuming rod and staff of Assyria - Israel and Syria consumed by the fire of Assyria, But The HOLY ONE is really the flame who is ding the consuming.- Never forget that is is the LORD and Assyria, who is chastening Israel.

10:20 - 34“That Day” When Assyria comes against Israel - In one day judgment will come upon Israel (9:14, 10:17) - there will be a remnant the Lord’s portion will be saved.

“That Day” - During the tribulation the gentiles shall inflict suffering upon Israel
“That Day” - When the Lord returns a remnant of Israel shall escape into the Kingdom and The Glory of The Lord shall be upon His People Once again. The burden removed.

Note There is also a remnant (Judah that escapes the kingdom of Ahaz to the Kingdom Of Good king Hezekiah who restore the City, Temple and priests.
