Isaiah Chapter 22- The Death Of Jerusalem - Part 2

Isaiah 22:14 And it was revealed in mine ears by the LORD of hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

Why Babylon’s siege and capturing Jerusalem [Dan 1 & 2Kings 24:1-2Kings25:10] and not Assyria’s siege of Jerusalem during Hezekiah and Manasseh is the focus of Isaiah 22:1-14

The Assyrian siege: (most commentaries point to this as the focus of Chapter 22) (Last Lesson)
Assyria took the outlying cities (filled the valley with chariots); Hezekiah sought the LORD
The Angel Of The Lord killed 185,000 of the Assyrian army
The King of Assyria returned to his country in disgrace and was killed by his sons. There is no mention of famine or men dying in Jerusalem.
The Assyrian siege when Manasseh was king. He was taken captive outside the city. Like his father Hezekiah he sought the Lord and he and Jerusalem was restored. Again no great death in Jerusalem.

The Babylon capturing Jerusalem. Dan 1:1
(2Kings 24:1-5 Dan1:1) When JehoiaKim was King of Judah Babylon lays siege to Jerusalem, enters the city takes vessels from the temple (2Cron 36:7) along with the best young men. .
JehoiaKim dies, JehoiaChin his son reigns (2Kings 24:6) in Jerusalem - *Note when Nebuchadnezzar took the best and brightest of the young men in Jerusalem the king’s son (JehoiaChin) was left behind
Nebuchadnezza comes again and plunders Jerusalem and carries JehoiaChin and all the rest of the craftsmen and military leaders to Babylon - leaving only the poorest sort of the people of the land (2Kings 24:14) and he makes Mattaniah, JehoiaKim’s brother king and changed his name to Zedekiah.(2Kings 24:17).
Zedekiah rebelled against Babylon 2Kings 24:20
Nebuchadnezzar comes a third time and lays siege to Jerusalem for two years with all his host (fills the valley and sets at the gates Isa 22:7)
Famine in Jerusalem (Isa 22:2) 2Kings 25:3
The king flees with the army and the army of the Chaldees captured them 2Kings 25:4-5 (Isa 22:3) the walls are broken down
The temple was burned, all the house were burned (the houses of Isa 22:1) The city was totally destroyed - the death of Jerusalem Isa 22:14 so it could be purged of sin.
Note Babylon (Chaldean) was able to enter Jerusalem because Hezekiah exposed the hidden places of Jerusalem to them years before and could they could have seen the weak spots in it’s defense which led God to God’s promise of captivity (2Kings 20:17) but spared from Assyrian  captivity because Manasseh’s repentance.

Ezekiel 24:13 In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee
Do you now understand the only way Israel will turn to The LORD and be able to be blessed with all the promises made to Abraham is to be completely broken and humbled during the Tribulation - Those Days.
If my people….. 2Chronicles 7:14. This when Israel will be humbled and truly pray to The Holy One Of Israel and are saved into the Kingdom.

Read Deuteronomy 28 (especially beginning vere15 & 50-55) I believe this is a prophesy of the 70 year captivity in Babylon and what those who are left in Jerusalem resort to for survival.

Remember Isaiah 3:9-26
