Chapter 24 Part 1 - The Lord Maketh The Earth Empty

These four chapters begin a new section.
24:1 - The LORD Maketh empty
25:1 - The LORD Deserves worship
26:1 - The LORD Provides salvation
27:1 - The LORD Punishes

Isa 24:1 ¶ Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.

The empty earth .
Gen 1:2 - Gen 8:13-14 - The end of the Ttribulation: - here we see a physically empty earth
Jer 25:11 And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
For seventy years the land and Jerusalem was emptied. Emptied of wealth, and the people.

Isa 24:2-3 - the land will be so empty that every one both great and small, wealthy and poor, royal and common will be in the same situation -What benefit is there in being a king when there is nothing or nobody to rule over.

Isa 24:4-5 the land itself will groan, suffer because of the sins of the people.

Isa 24:6 - The curse cover the land - The land would set idol for 70 years. If the land that was tilled be not cared for 70 years what would cover the land. (Gen 3) - worthless plants, worthlessness

Isa 24:7-12 describes the city - Jerusalem - no rejoicing, no more wine, no more singing, houses shut up, the gates broken down. (Isaiah 22:2, 32:13,14) Lamentations 2:15 The Jerusalem was to be The City Of God’s Joy - God could no longer Joy in His people of His city. - Emptiness.

Numbers 13 - They were given a land that truly flowed with milk and honey, clusters of grapes one man could not carry. They were given vineyards they did not have to plant, farm ground they did not have to clear.
Deuteronomy 8:7-8 further describes the land God had prepared for His people.
How long did they enjoy the plenty of the land?
After Babylon’ second entering of Jerusalem (2Ki 24:14) only the poorest sort of people were left, after the third siege, Babylon left the city ravaged by famine and returned to completely burn the city (2Ki 24:9
The land was left empty of the people, empty of the wealth, empty of God’s blessing, empty of the joy
The land once so full of food, wealth and people was completely emptied by the LORD to teach them that
It is better to obey than sacrifice - (1Sa 15:22)
If you do not believe you will not be established. - (Isa 7:9)
