Isaiah Chapter 26 - Salvation is of God
Verse 1 - In That Day - The day Judah and all Israel have a strong
city - Jerusalem -
Last lesson - true strength is only found in the presence and
knowledge of the Lord, Jerusalem will be a strong city only when the
LORD is on the throne
“That Day” - The Millennial Kingdom - The Holy Mountain is raised
above the rest of the earth and all come there to worship
“That Day” - When the New Heaven and New Earth - the curse is
finally removed and the Word Of God will be able to thrive in the
hearts of all mankind.
Verse 1 - The city will not need walls or battlements - The God’s
Salvation will be the defense of God’s City and people - Isaiah
60:18
John 10:25-30, - The Salvation Appointed by God is eternal
Revelation 20:7-9 - After the Millennial Kingdom the enemies come to
the city to destroy Jerusalem and those who live about the throne -
fire from Heaven defeat the enemy - Walls are not needed (Jer 23:29)
Ahaz did not believe The LORD could save Jerusalem from Syria and
the northern tribes - he was not established - (Isaiah 70 - Ahaz
could have asked for fire from heaven - but he did not believe -
Last weeks question - Why was the example of a defenced city being
made a ruin a heap (Jericho) as the example of the wonderful things
The LORD God did to prove sis counsels are faithfulness and truth
instead of the things He preformed to bring Israel out of Egypt (as
He usually used as evidence of His ability to save Israel)?- Walls
and bulwarks can be made a ruinous heap, but believing The LORD’s
counsels will lead to a salvation appointed by God that can not be
broken down. See Psalm 140
God’s Appointed Salvation
Verse 2 - for the righteous those who believe and obey His counsels
Isaiah 28:16
Verse 3 - offers perfect peace - through believe and trust - stay
upon Him
Verse 4 - everlasting strength - through trusting in The LORD

Verses 5-6, 10-11 - The righteous and wicked identified
The wicked dwell in the high places - places where false gods are
worshiped (v5) they include poor and needy and they refuse God’s
mercy (V10-11) and cannot see His majesty because they can not see
His. Even in the Millennial Kingdom (the land of uprightness) there
will be those who refuse his mercy and deny His majesty - they will
be destroyed
The eternal way of the righteous (Isa 26:8-9 Yea, in the way of thy
judgments, O LORD, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul
is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee. With my soul have I
desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek
thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants
of the world will learn righteousness. ( they accept His mercy and
acknowledge His majesty)
Verses 12-20 - The Mercy Seen
Even though they have worshiped false gods (that are dead and
buried) God will remove the memory of the false gods from those who
mention His name. [Gen 4:26, Acts 2:21 - The only way of salvation
is to call upon the name of the Lord.} He will increase the nations
of the righteous. (Israel - the nation in travail God is going to
increase this nation inspite of their turning to false gods)
Verse 19 - those who die in The LORD will rise again (1Thes 4:16)
Verse 20 - His people - have a safe haven from His indignation
prepared by Him (Revelation 20:9, 15)
Verse 21 - The Lord punishes the wicked - Next week
Next two lessons Chapter 27 - The LORD comes out of His place to
punish the wicked.
