Chapter 43

This section begins with Isaiah being told to comfort The LORD's people.  The first 39 chapters seen to be aligned with Hebrews 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God

The Jews thought this was where they were - being crushed by the hand of God. Deuteronomy 28:33 The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway:

Jeremiah 51:34 Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath made me an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his belly with my delicates, he hath cast me out.  The Jews wondered what privilege is there and what comfort is there in being God's chosen people?

Chapters 40, 41, 42 & 45 tell of Cyrus the chosen of the LORD who will set them back on the strait path to worship in Jerusalem a picture of the strait path showed by John the Baptist and the path offered by Jesus through believing upon His perfect sacrifice..

43:1 - The LORD declares to the nation of Israel (both kingdoms) - {We must remember The LORD is dealing with the nation of Israel not the individual persons in the Old Testament.

He created you - from the seed of Jacob who is of the seed of Abraham

He formed you - made then a nation drawn out of the clutches of Egypt

He named you - gave them a name that always shows that they are from the seed of Jacob

He has redeemed you- past tense - the redemption of Israel as a nation is a sure thing The LORD has declared their redemption.

See John 1:1-4

Redemption is a sure thing to those who He calls and claims. [In the New testament He will call Who so ever,  but will only claim those who are established through belief] but as a nation Israel is already redeemed in the eyes of God.

See John 1:1-4

43:2-6 The Lord declares the He never left them alone, Her always went with them and He will always go with them, He has always been in complete control of everything Israel has went through  Hebrews 13:5 says -  Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Conversation and contentment are not stated as being the condition for His presence and should be an outcome because He is always going to be present. (Genesis 28:15; Deuteronomy 31:6,8; Joshua 1:5; 1Ch 28:20)

43:7 - The LORD makes it very clear - The only reason He created, formed, named and redeemed Israel

any anyone else is for HIS GLORY!

43:8-12 Israel's purpose (even in captivity) was to be The LORD's witnesses (both nationally and individually) that I The LORD am God! When Israel was serving Him and there was no false god being worshipped He would declare this through Israel. When Israel worship false gods he had to turn them over to the consequences of their iniquity and remove their witness because The LORD He is God and His name must not be blasphemed among the gentiles and He could show His graciousness by bringing them back to where He could declare declare His Name through them. There are some within The blind servant

that have eyes. (Psalm 119:18; John 10:21; Acts 26:18; John 9)

43:13 - ....I will work, and who shall let it?

He did not need to have a board meeting before He created, formed, named and redeemed Israel. There was no one who He had to seek permission for anything that He has ever done or will do. Who gave him permission to destroy 185,000 Assyrian soldiers in one night, or Sodom & Gomorrah, Jericho, what about when He ordered Israel to leave no one alive when they went to possess the land or the plagues and punishment upon Israel, what about the coming battle in the place called Armageddon? The LORD has declared everything that will come upon His people and this world, He does not answer to anyone or there is no one who can change that which will be.- This is what Israel was to be the witnesses of.

If we learn anything from this it should be our salvation does not depend upon our faithfulness or our circumstances. We remain just as saved during the hard times (even when they are our fault) as during the good times. Our witness regardless of our circumstances - HE IS GOD and there is no one to whom He has to give account or answer to - One God, One Lord, One Spirit, One Savior, One Salvation, One end for the saved and one end for the lost and what we think does not matter.

Job 9:12; Psalm 90:2; Isaiah 14:27;

43:14-17 - We have seen He (The LORD) brought Babylon, The Chaldeans, upon Judah to chastise them into repentance - to be able to declare their iniquity removable. Here is comfort He has brought (this is in their future but spoken is if it has already happened) Babylon, the Chaldeans, their powerful army and chariots with horses into extinct as you put out a burning candle wick (tow) with water.

[Speaking of Medes & Persians) but also That Day - Revelation 14:8, 18:2, 21]

He destroys Babylon for their sake [save from being completely wiped out - to save them (life after death

He is their Redeemer.

43:18 - Be able to put their past behind them and move forward - life after death - That Day -

Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Heb 8:10-12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

43:19-21 - The LORD will do a new thing (tied to not remembering their sin) and they shall be like deserts with rivers ( Water brings life to the desert) - So they will be able to shew forth His praise - letting the world see their praise of The LORD could only come after their iniquity is removed  - life after death

More on these verses next lesson

43:22-25 In spite of all they saw the Lord do, in spite their being a special creation, in spite of all the promises - Israel became weary of the LORD and brought corrupted sacrifices  - HE is still the one who blots out their transgression and will remember them no more

43:26 - The LORD's call to repentance - Remember ME - {All That I AM} - plead with me for pardon of your iniquity and receive - justification

43:27-28 - The sins of the fathers (leaders) brought the curse (unproductive or sinful hearts) upon Judah and wrought them to a place or reproach - thus the 70 years of captivity - the death is Isaiah 22:14
