Chapter 55 - The Sure Mercies Of David

Chapter 54 ends with a promise of The LORD's of protection for His servants, covered in His Righteousness. If is it not His righteousness it is not righteousness. All righteousness of His.

Ro 8:31 ¶ What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? - Israel thought they could claim The LORD' s presence without His righteousness applied without the covering of His Spirit. It just doesn't work that way - if they were not covered by His Spirit they were covered by sin.

His promise to His servants protection through His righteousness applied or accounted unto them.

55:1 ¶ Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
What is the physical a picture of ? - The spiritual.

Come to what waters -

Isa 35:6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.

Isa 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
Isa 43:20 The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen

Ho -Stop. You can not buy what The LORD has to offer. What the LORD offers is really for the poor and needy - Matthew 5:3 ¶ Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. - Isaiah 66:2 For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. Those without money, the poor in spirit, understand they cannot buy, earn or deserve what The LORD offers them, it must be accounted unto then through by faith believing.

Today most do not realize the labor and expense involved in producing the food they eat, especially in the United States. In Isaiah's time and for most alive today, the reason you labor or work is so they and their family have food to eat. 2Thassalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. We do not understand the concept of working today so you can by food tomorrow.

Feeding the physical body doesn't bring long lasting satisfaction. The LORD is speaking to His people, " All the money and labor you spend on food should teach you that you can not buy or work for eternal satisfaction. If you could it would be of yourselves your righteousness, not mine." .

(Remember 51:1-2) The Jews sought The Lord, followed after righteousness but not in truth, but by their own way, not HIS.

The nation of Israel was the desert in Isa 43:19-20, full of dry bones (the people) of Ezekiel 37:4 Those who are spiritually thirsty and spiritual hungry. Seek what The LORD has to offer you can't buy it, you never can catch up with it; you will always be following after it. The LORD has to apply it and account righteousness unto the one who believes. -

Mt 5:3 ¶ Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Lu 18:25 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Mt 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

*So how do they obtain the spiritual satisfaction. Isaiah 55:3a Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; [They were to hear and respond (could that be hearken). Hear and believe -

Today one must hear the Gospel and believe the Gospel and come unto Him (eternal salvation) -Then our day by day satisfaction come when we read His Word and believe His Word and respond to what be believe. We hear what our pastor preaches, we believe what we hear and respond to what we believe. There is no satisfaction without  hearing, or hearing without believing or believing without responding.

If you hear and come unto Him you believe and those who do The LORD says Isa 55:3b ...and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. What God gives to those who hear, believe and come is everlasting, brings everlasting satisfaction. Mercy that lasts for ever and the ability to have Psalm 23 as your peace and comfort in times of trouble. What mercy comes through David's royal line - Jesus Christ - Their Messiah - the one who is seen in Chapter 53 - the one Judah was not looking for yet He is the one they need. .2 Sam 7:16, Ps 89:36-37 Selah!

Hosea 3:5 Selah!;  Ps 32:1,5; 51:4 remember the sin of murder and coveting Bathsheba - David sought and received forgiveness. Selah!

See Acts 13:14-23 -  Ro 1:3; 11:26; Ac 2:30 -  even the sure mercies of David. The Selah for His people.

Read 2Chronicles 14 -

2Chronicles 14:11 And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee

Psalm 16:8-11

55:4 David as a type of Christ - received the promise that his throne would continue for ever - David was a witness to the mercy of God, All of Judah knew and honored David - they understood the Messiah would come from his line - Selah!

Verse 5 there was a time when all nations looked to David's throne, There will come a time when all nations will be called to Jerusalem to worship The LORD - some in chains of judgment destined for the pit.

Verse 6 - The Plea Of The LORD through Isaiah - Come to me while I am near. - When Christ walked the earth, He came to the Jews first. If they only knew how near salvation was to them. He came to offer the dry bones the living water - but they rejected Him. (Remember Isaiah 53) -

Acts 28:23-29 with Isaiah 6:9-10   Isaiah 49:8 - 2 Cor 6:2

Verse 7 - The LORD promises mercy to the wicked and unrighteous who turn from heir ways (Could this be repentance). What about the sure mercies of Davis (55:3)

Verses 8-9 - The ways and thoughts of The LORD are not those of the wicked - His ways are Heaven based - He moves on a much higher, righteous plane than man - Matthew 6:19-21.

These are ways man should seek - His ways, His thought, His righteousness. So is His mercy Ps 103:11

Verses 10 -11 - The cycle of water - it comes down from above and brings life and growth to the earth and food to man - Then it return upward again after it has accomplished it's purpose - The Word of The LORD will always accomplish what He intends it to accomplish.

Who is the Word - Jesus Christ - He Came down from Heaven above -

Than He returned after He accomplished what He came to do - and He will come again in "That Day" with another work to accomplish - Then He will than bring The New Jerusalem down from the New Heaven to the New Earth.

In these verses could The LORD be saying  Bow now unto salvation before you must bow down unto condemnation. Because Isaiah 45:23 also

Zechariah 3:9 For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day

Verse 12 In That Day all will sing out joyfully - even the creation that now groans (Rom 8:22) will be clap in approval (Ps 96:12; 98:8) Why?

Verse 13 the curse of Genesis 3:17-19 is no more - Revelation 22:3 - The ending of the curse is the sign that Israel will be joined to their Maker for ever and never cut off again. Selah for His people.

Remember Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
