Chapter 5 Part 3 V24-30 The Therefore

Verse 5:24 begins with therefore. Why is therefore there for?.

Since or because there was nothing God could do further (5:4) to convince Judah & Jerusalem to turn to from there evil ways described in the verses before verse 24. Their being consumed by there rottenness is as sure as fire destroying stubble and chaff - Two of the quickest burning completely consuming types of fire known.

There rottenness and worthlessness is summed up in  V24 as because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

Deuteronomy 4:24 For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.

Ezekiel 21:31 And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee, I will blow against thee in the fire of my wrath, and deliver thee into the hand of brutish men, and skilful to destroy.

Zephaniah 1:18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land

Hebrews 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.

Verse 25 Therefore - Because because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel the anger of the LORD is kindled (as you stoke a fire) against His people and city. He has stretched forth His hand in judgment

Hebrews 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Verses 26 & 27 - The nations coming to destroy Judah & Jerusalem as fire destroys chaff & stubble is going to The LORDS ensign - His banner or mark of distinction showing for all to see that The LORD is in control and He in bringing judgment because of their sins.

This army is an army that is not going to stop or tire before they finish the work The LORD has set before them. They won't be slowed down by undressing.

Verse 28 - This army will be coming swiftly the horses hooves will be powerful that the will cause sparks to fly as they strike the ground, pulling the chariots so swiftly that the wheel will be kicking up dust devils

(What will sparks and wind do to stubble?). They will be always ready for battle there bows will be carried will be carried cocked with sharp arrows ready to fire. Probably crossbows cocked and ready or long bows constantly pulled and under pressure.

Verse 29 Imagine the noise from the horses hooves, the wind rushing through the chariot  wheels, marching army coming all at once - like a roaring lion - 1Peter 5:8 ¶ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Verse 30 - That day when Babylon comes against Jerusalem

That Day of the tribulation

Darkness and sorrow will come upon the city as a sea pour upon the land in a storm

Revelation 12:12 ¶ Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

This message in these first chapters was to Isaiah from the LORD. Isaiah was getting a glimpse of what he was going to deliver to the four kings of Judah from The LORD. Do you think that Isaiah might of been in sorrow himself over this vision? Do you think that he may have thought how inadequate he was to deliver such a sober and terrible message.

Next lesson the preparation of Isaiah to serve. Chapter 6 part 1
