Babylon Part 3 Chapters 13 & 14
Isaiah 45:9 Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the
potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say
to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no
hands?
Chapter 14 records the end of those who continue to challenge the
omnipotence of The Maker.
*Verse 1 -Why is for there?For identifies this verse with The Day Of
The Lord
Why is The Day Of The Lord coming? To show mercy to Israel to be
able to choose Them
14:1 - Why is “The Day Of The Lord Coming” when God’s wrath is
poured out upon the Earth -(Goat Nations Matthew 25:31- 46)- and
Satan ‘s city of Babylon
Because God will extend His Mercy on Israel [Pour His mercy on them
not offer it to them. Israel is going to receive God’s mercy weather
they want it or not. After six years of the Tribulation period
Israel will turn to The Holy One Of Israel”
Other nations will also come to The Lord because of “The Day Of The
Lord”
Isaiah 19:24 - Isaiah 11:16
“That Day” & “The Day Of The Lord” is to chasten Israel to belief
and obedience.
*Verses 2-3 - What will The Day Of The Lord bring to Israel
Rest, the land, be rulers of them who they served.
14:2-3 Rest will come to Israel (Jerusalem - peace) They will be
over those they served. They will have God’s Peace & God’s Rest -
Because they will stay upon The Holy One Of Israel
*Verse 4 - Who is verses 4-23 written to? King of Babylon
14:4- Makes it clear these verses (4-23) are to the King Of Babylon
Why must Babylon be completely wiped out - Satan’s capital of
The wonder of Babylon Fall
* The first - a city of huge walls, world dominate army, wealth of
the world yet it fell without a battle
* The second Babylon will fall with a great One hour Battle (Rev
18:10, 18)
* Both fall by an act of God Isaiah 4:5
*Verses 7-11 - What is the reaction of the world when this king
falls?
Why is “art thou become like unto us?” in verse 10 important The
king of Babylon will no longer be honored - same position as the one
he troubled
How are these worms in verse 11 described in Mark 9:44-48
They do not die
14:6 - 11 - When the king of Babylon falls he will be no better than
those he conquered and murdered,
Verse 12 Identifies the king of Babylon as Lucifer
How were the nations affected by Satan’s fall? They were Sin,
enemies of Israel.
14:12 This King is identified 14:12 - Lucifer another name for Satan
or the devil - Lu 10:18
*Verses 13-14 why did God cast Lucifer to Earth? (Remember Isaiah
45:9-10)
14:13-14 - Lucifer was cast down because he challenged His Maker
14:14 Satan will be in the same situation as the nations he
controlled -(Goat Nations Matthew 25:31- 46)
*Verses 15-23 What is Lucifer’s (king of Babylon) future HELL
How do verses 16-18 go with verse 12 describes his effects on
nations
How do these verses relate to verse 10 no longer able to torment the
world
Why can’t verses 15-23 be about the fall of the first Babylon?
Satan is still prince and power of the air Eph 2:2
The whole earth has never been at rest 14:7
14:20 - Lucifer will not be buried as those kings who he led to
their death but cast into the pit by His Maker
V23 - The city Babylon had the river Euphrates running through and
by it as the river overflowed it’s banks cover the area and pools of
water would be left behind after the water receded. When the second
Babylon is destroyed these pools will be cover the city and be a
place for the water fowl. Swept with the broom of destruction.
