Stay
Isaiah’s message
Israel’s past - God chosen people - forsook him
Israel’s present - Heart harden and their refusal to obey the Holy
One of Israel
Israel's future - That Day when they see the one that Isaiah saw in
Chapter 6 - as their Salvation.
Israel's future - That
Day when thy will stay upon the LORD
Isaiah should be studied with “That Day “ always noticed.
Two key phrases
The Holy One of Israel & That Day a really key verse would be one
with both phrases in it
Isaiah 10:20 ¶ And it shall come to pass in that day, that
the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of
Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall
stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.
[Stay: a primitive root; to support one's self:--lean, lie, rely,
rest (on, self), stay.]
In “That Day” those who escape the Tribulation will stay (rely on)
Jesus Christ. They will completely follow and obey Him. They will
have learned only The Holy One Of Israel is the only true savior,
only true God, the only One to be worshiped and the only Rock that
will not fail in “The Time of Trouble“.
(Isaiah 33:2 & Daniel 12:1)
Israel was not staying upon he Lord so what were thy relying upon?
Isaiah 30:12 -13 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel,
Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and
perverseness, and stay thereon Therefore this iniquity shall be to
you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose
breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.(they were staying on sinful
not obeying God - their faith was in themselves not stayed upon
their God.)
Isaiah 31:1 ¶ Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay
on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in
horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the
Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD! (relying on what they had
instead of Who they had)
Micah 3:8-12 - (support ones self)Relaying upon themselves. They
felt they could in without consequences because “God was with them”.
They were God’s chosen people and that gave them license to sin.
Even though they disobeyed God, sinned against Him, corrupted His
Holy City and Holy Temple they felt God owed them and they could
still demand His special favor.
Isa 50:10 ¶ Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the
voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light?
let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.
Isa 48:2
What about us today are we told to lean on Jesus.? If so where?
This idea of leaning staying on Jesus is seen only in John 13:23 Now
there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus
loved.
1Ti 3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou
oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church
of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
1Cor 15:58; Col 1:23 We are to be grounded and not wavering in our
faith and lifestyle (grounded in faithful living.)
We do not stay on Him we stay in Him.
Ro 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption
that is in Christ Jesus:
Ro 8:1 ¶ There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in
Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Ro 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made
me free from the law of sin and death.
Ro 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able
to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord.
Israel was to “stay” on Him we are to “stay” in Him.
Israel was to rely through obedience on the Cloud and fire that led
them through the wilderness.
But we are in the Cloud and Fire.
Satan darts could get to Israel when they got ahead of the Cloud and
Fire. Because we are in Christ his darts can not get to us.
What were the walls of Jerusalem pictures of?
When they left the gates opened the enemy could come in and plunder
and polluted the city. Whe the wall wer broken down they didn’t need
the gates to be open.
